Not Call Cooperstown this year

There were five former Expos on the ballot votes for the accession to the Hall of Fame this year. Three new (Marquis Grissom, Larry Walker and Kirk Rueter) and two veterans (Tim Raines and Lee Smith).

Lee Smith again had the most votes, with 45.3%. Unfortunately for him, is down from last year, and he starts running out of time, as was his ninth year on the ballot for a maximum of 15.

Tim Raines continued to rise, reaching 37.5% against 30.4% last year. In non-elected, only Barry Larkin had more gain.

Larry Walker makes debut interesting, to 20.3%. That puts it ahead of Mark McGwire, Fred McGriff, Rafael Palmeiro and Juan Gonzalez. Only Jeff Bagwell has done better among the newcomers.

Marquis Grissom has garnered 4 votes, Kirk Rueter no. They will no return of votes on the ballot next year, 5% is required.

Jeff Fassero and Carl Everett are the only two former Expos to be eligible for the first time next year.

Tony Batista and Steve Kline could be on the ballot votes in 2013, Moises Alou and Jose Vidro in 2014, Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson, Bartolo Colon and Cliff Floyd in 2015.
